In these tough times, we all are trying to cut corners where we can. We’re all looking for the most bank for our buck.
Last year my car needed a new clutch. I called the dealership and of course the price they quoted me seemed high. So I called around and someone referred me to a shop down south of my area. Their price was almost half of the dealership’s price, so I figured what the heck. After my clutch was replaced, I left the shop with a large smile on my face thinking to myself, “I got a really good deal!”. Or did I?
3 months later my wife was driving the car on a busy street in downtown San Diego and the clutch went out. Fortunately she was able to coast into a gas station and we had the car towed down to the place where we got it replaced just a few months before. Of course we were given every excuse under the sun as to why the clutch broke…but it came down to a supposed faulty part. We had to pay to get it replaced once again after only using it for 3 months.
The last 2 weeks I’ve been driving the car (less than a year after having the clutch replaced a 2nd time) and the clutch has now started acting up again. Now I realize I may have to get it replaced yet again…so much for that discounted price.
I’ve learned the hard way that cutting corners and going with the cheapest option doesn’t always pay off in the end. By the time I get this clutch replaced again, I’ll be paying way more than had it done correctly by professionals to begin with. Like all things in life, we get what we pay for.
At My619.com, we strive to strike a balance between high end quality work and affordability. We realize we’re not the cheapest guy out there, but we also keep a low overhead to avoid a situation where we have to raise our prices so high just to cover excessive operational expenses. It’s like one of our clients, Todd Toback, said:
“Kris is awesome. He is very dependable and does great work. I shopped for the cheapest when I first started and Kris wasn’t it. He sold me on is “back end” design and quality. Needless to say, I am super happy and would not hesitate to refer him to anyone.”
When you get your website designed, you obviously want quality. When you have your target market see your site, what does it say? How does it look? Does it look sloppy or does it represent your business in excellence? They say a site visitor makes up their mind about your site in under 4 seconds once they arrive. Poor craftsmanship, design and usability will drive your potential client away…professional design will invite them in. One of our clients learned this recently. Their site (that we designed) was found by a company that was looking for a specific service they provide. The level of quality found on the site caused this potential to contact them. This visitor who came to their site ended up being a client that brought in 50% of their income for the year…not too shabby.
Sometimes we are given situations as a company to potentially get a new client, but the budget may be extremely low. While we could maybe do the project for that price, we realize we’d have to cut a lot of corners to make it work. We came to the decision years ago when first forming our business that we wouldn’t do 2nd rate work just to get a client. While we’re also not looking to rip anyone off, we have found that quality work doesn’t come cheap…but neither should it be prohibitively expensive.

“Even working with tight deadlines and a specific budget, everything was done on schedule and by the numbers. I particularly appreciated the personal communication and attention to detail that My619 gave to our site design and build-out.”
